The "Stay Ready" Standard

When I was cast as an Amazon in Justice League, there was no "prep phase." I was already ready.

Most people view leanness as a metabolic puzzle, but in reality, stubborn fat storage is often a stress problem. Your metabolism is simply a mirror, reflecting the signals you send it—and chronic stress signals inflammation. While working on the film in 2016, Michael (@gritandteeth) and I knew we had to lead by example. We didn't just coach these modalities; we lived them. We applied these exact principles while preparing Henry Cavill for his role as Superman.

Henry’s transformation required more than just elite training; it demanded a mastery of the "back-end" variables. To achieve that level of physical excellence, our team prioritized restorative sleep, aggressive stress management, intentional movement through high-volume walking, and role-specific nutrition and cellular hydration.

On a major production, it’s easy to get swept up in the social scene and late nights, but we were on a mission. While Henry worked incredibly hard, the lifestyle we curated for him—and lived alongside him—was the catalyst for his success. By prioritizing recovery, we managed the true culprit of burnout: Cortisol.

If you’re struggling to lose body fat despite training hard, "hidden" markers are likely the bottleneck. At Alqemis, we now apply rigorous testing to all our projects to identify the silent killers of performance: hormonal imbalances like high cortisol and estrogen dominance, inflammatory markers such as elevated CRP, low thyroid conversion, blood sugar irregularities, and suppressed gut immunity.

These issues lead to systemic inflammation and belly fat storage—obstacles no one has time for, especially on a blockbuster production. Michael and I stay ready so we can walk through these transformations alongside our clients. Because we practice what we teach, I didn't need a training camp to become an Amazonian. I just had to show up.
